Web-activated telephone service for iPhone and more...

Recently there was an offer to use an iPhone app to simplify using the iPhone for phone calls. More information can be found on the spreed.com Web site.

spreed (http://spreed.com) is offering a web-activated telephone service for the iPhone or other mobile phones with Internet access, JavaScript support and some kind of numeric keyboard to enter URL, user id, password etc.

The service assumes that you have registered at spreed (also using a free account) and bought some credits to be used for the telephone connection. As part of the registration you can also under 'Settings' enter your own phone number(optional).

To use the connect service you have to do the following from your mobile phone (iPhone):

- Enter the URL www.spreed.com
- Login to spreed using your e-mail address and password
- Use 'Options' to set your phone number and enter the number you want to connect to and click 'Call'
You will now be connected with the number you entered.

You can use this service world wide and call numbers world wide. The rates for most calls are in the range of 2-10 cents/minute including international calls, which might be very interesting when you are travelling.
