Architecture ConceptsThe architecture used for running web meetings is based on a central web meeting server or servers being responsible for setting up the connections between the participants. The server is connected to a high bandwidth network in order to handle lots of connections. In addition the server is handling the e-mail invitations as well as keeping presentations and documents used during the web meeting. in the case of recording and archiving this information is also stored on the central web server. Security is one important issue also taken care of the web server. Commonly used is the SSL protocol. In order to minimize the data sent over the Internet connection during the web meeting some kind of compression algoritihm is used. |
